Stump Grinding
If a tree has been felled the next thing
to considerer is what to do with the stump.
It can be left to decay naturally over the years or helped on its
way with a specialist product which contains glyphosate, these
methods take time to work but also as the stump is rotting away it
can host undesirable pests and fungus which can then go on to attack
other trees and plants in your garden, also the stump can look
unsightly in beautifully maintained garden.
The remaining tree stump can cause a hazard in the garden with
people tripping over it and for children playing, the lawnmower
hitting it or just generally be in the way.
A common problem is that the stump will need removing if you want to
landscape your garden, lay a lawn or patio, put up a shed or build a
conservatory or extension to your home.
The answer is to have the stump ground down.
I use a special narrow stump grinding machine which is able to
access most gardens (it looks a bit like a lawn mower with a
grinding wheel on the front) It grinds the stump into small woodchip
down to well below ground level. The resulting woodchip can be used
to fill the stump hole, as a mulch in your garden or we can take it
away to be 100% recycled. If preferred you can fill the hole with
good quality top soil.
I take great care of the surrounding area using a special shield
which prevents the woodchip from flying everywhere (as seen in the
video below)and always clean up with care afterwards
